Issues about Ritual Bath
When a husband and wife indulge in sexual relations, then its MANDATORY to have a bath to cleanse oneself.[Bukhari and Muslim].
If a woman has wet dreams, (she dreams of something which makes her feel sexually active and has a discharge, like the men have), then she has to take a bath to cleanse herself.[Muslim].
MANNER OF TAKING THE BATH AFTER INTERCOURSE, MENSES.
·         Wash both hands,-as they might have touched something dirty.
·         do istinjza/taharat
·         then do wu’zu
·         then with YOUR fingers  would wet the roots of hair--
·         at least pour 3 times water on the body
·         And then take a bath and then in the end wash  feet.[ Bukhari muslim]
·         For a bath to cleanse oneself after janabat/sexual relations, it is MANDATORY that all roots of the hair get wet.
·         For a man – he should open his hair ( if he has long hair) and has to wash his hair and the roots very well.
·         For a woman—she needs to just wet the roots.., if she has long hair, she can tie them in a bun and wet her roots, wash the skin of her head nicely..she can take 3 mugs of water and wet her roots only…can put her head under the tap and wash the roots and leave the rest of her long hair dry. [Abu Dawud]
·         One has to remove nail polish or any other thing which prevents the water to reach the skin.
·         If there is no water for a bath one can dr tayammun with the intention of bath of cleansing oneself after sexual relations  this is acceptable.
·         If one is seriously sick and cannot take a bath with water and menses are over, then tayammum is acceptable and then one can pray.
Points to Remember--
1.      Istihaza is abnormal bleeding and one can take a bath and then pray.
2.      Wash oneself with soap and water, pour water on head and wash the roots, wash your body next. Put a good smell on a piece of cotton and specially rub the vagina and these days, a woman can use a good perfumed soap or vaginal tissues and make herself smell nice.
3.      Reading kalmia or shadaah while taking a bath is not supported by any Sunnah.
4.      Taking a bath on Friday is masnoon(very liked.)
5.      Taking a bath after washing  a dead body is mushtaab( liked).
6.      Wu’zu after funeral.[tirmizi]
7.      A sin to watch a man or woman while they bath.
8.      No woman should look at the satar of another woman. And no man should look at the satar of another man [Ibn Majah]
9.      The Prophet s.a.w used only half liter for wu’zu and 5 liter water for a bath[ Bukhari, Muslim]
10.  Better to use right hand, right side to begin any action—wash right side of the body first, comb right side of the hair first, brush right side of the teeth first..etc..
11.  We have to rinse our mouth and wash our noses to complete the bath of cleansing oneself after sexual intercourse, wet dreams, and menses.
12.  Not required to take a bath after a visit to the doctor.( gynecologist)
